Review by hotel critic
As a travel enthusiast with a passion for the coastline and marine conservation, my recent stay at the Duke left me pondering the balance between luxury and value. Located in a charming village, the hotel offers modern rooms with flat-screen TVs and tea/coffee facilities, providing essential comforts for a relaxing stay. The outdoor dining area provided a pleasant ambiance for meals, though I found breakfast service a bit slow. Housekeeping did an admirable job maintaining cleanliness, and the unique touch of chocolate port in the room was a nice surprise. During check-out, an unfortunate incident with a staff member overshadowed my experience. It’s crucial for hotels to ensure that every team member upholds the same level of professionalism. The Duke presents a decent value if you seek modern amenities in a quaint setting. Just approach it with tempered expectations regarding service speed and consistency. Given its picturesque surroundings and inviting garden area, the hotel has potential to be a great retreat, but may need to work on its service delivery. If you're considering a stay, ensure you balance your expectations of luxury with realism about service.
